The Power of Posture with Varvara Kalinin

Maintaining good posture is not just about standing tall or looking better, it is a vital part of protecting your body from long term health issues.

In this workshop find out how posture influences movement and in turn how movement influences posture. Learn some of the common patterns we develop as humans due our anatomy and the modern sedentary lifestyle and exercise choices. 

You will be guided through a somatic movement class how to feel in your own body some of these imbalanced patterns associated with the weaknesses and compensations that develop that might be contributing to some of your own chronic health issues today.  

  • First part of the workshop includes  short lecture discussing the anatomy of the body
  • Second part is an hour of movement class, emphasizing corrective breathing and movement to help restore your healthy posture .

Anyone is welcome to attend! No experience is required. Just come with an open mind and heart, ready to move, explore and discover.

Sound Bath Meditation with Jim Petty

Astoria-based practitioner Jim Petty—founder of Subtle Layers—is a certified sound meditation facilitator and breath work instructor. Jim integrates soothing instruments and guided breath work to ease stress, regulate the nervous system, and invite deep rest. He draws on his professional audio engineering and sound design background to create immersive, restorative sessions for the community.

Sound Vibration Meditation Reset

This restorative yoga meditation class includes singing bowls chimes, and vocal toning (chanting OM) to help calm the nervous system and restore the body, mind and spirit.  

All the poses will be on the floor with props to help you find comfort and ease so you may completely let go and release tension.  Śrī will guide you through breath work (Pranayama) to further enhance the vitality within and prepare the mind for a guided meditation and luxurious deep relaxation (Yoga Nidra) an ancient healing technique to restore the body back to balance.
